For the sake of everybody’s comfort, it is important that the residents in Yläkelo follow the rules and other guidelines of the house given by the housing company and the board. Together we create a comfortable living environment!
Below you will find information on residing in Yläkelo and using common areas. The instructions are based on the housing company’s rules and instructions given by the company’s board.
Silence
Please pay attention to your neighbors and keep the noise level reasonable. Especially during the hours of silence between 22:00 and 7:00, it is advisable to avoid extra noise.
However, it is good to remember that living in an apartment building is communal and includes tolerating the sounds of normal living.
Doors of the entrances
The front doors of the housing company are locked around the clock for security reasons. Residents can open the door for their guests using the intercom from their apartment. Please ensure that the door closes properly behind you!
Yard areas and common areas
Please keep the common areas and yard areas clean! Report any repair needs or deficiencies you notice primarily to the maintenance company, and if necessary also to the property manager or the board.
Balconies
Balconies must be kept clean and snow must be removed from them in winter. Attaching signs, advertisements, etc., as well as installing antennas and air heat pumps is only allowed with the housing company’s permission. For safety reasons, grilling on balconies is only permitted with a gas or electric grill. Dusting of carpets etc. must be done inside the balcony railings or in the places reserved for them in the housing company’s yard.
Recycling shelter
The following waste bins can be found in the recycling shelter: mixed waste, plastic, bio-waste, glass, metal, paper and cardboard.
Let’s keep the garbage area clean together, so it’s more comfortable for everyone to use! Garbage should be sorted in the waste bins with the lid closed. No objects should be left outside the containers. This is important to avoid accidentally feeding rats or other unwanted animals. The waste management company also bills the housing company for the disposal of waste outside the bins.
Cardboard packagings should be flattened to minimize the amount of space they take in the trash bins.
Furniture and other bulky waste that cannot fit into the bin must be delivered to HSY’s Sortti stations. Electronics, refurbishments and hazardous waste should be taken to separate collection points and must not be left to the recycling shelter at all.
Instructions for sorting waste can be found in the HSY Waste Guide.
Saunas
The sauna facilities can be found in Building A-D and Building I-K. Available sauna shifts can be requested from the property management company Kirkkonummen huolto. The sauna fee is 9 euros / month.
The lenght of the sauna shift is 1.5 hours, of which the first 45 minutes is for using the steam room. Let the sauna light remain on for as long as you use the steam room. Switch off the light at the latest when your time using the steam room has come to an end. This is how you tell your neighbor that it’s his turn to use the steam room. After your time using the the steam room is over, you can still use the washing room and dressing room until the end of your sauna shift.
So that everyone can enjoy the sauna, take care of the cleanliness of the facilities and respect the sauna shifts! When leaving the sauna, close the windows, doors and lights.
The common sauna shifts take place in A-D building on Fridays and I-K building on Thursdays as follows:
- Women’s shift from 19:30 to 21:00
- Men’s shift from 21:00 to 22:30
Barbecue place
The housing company has its own barbecue area behind the G-H house. There is a brick barbecue available for residents to use. There is also a table and benches. Some firewood can be found on the barbecue area, but we hope users bring their own charcoal.
Safety, cleanliness and the comfort of others must be taken care of at the housing company’s barbecue area. Grilling is not allowed when a wildfire or grass fire warning is in effect. Please also note to clean the place after use! Do not leave any garbage behind you and make sure the fire has completely burned out before you leave.
Drying rooms
There are two drying rooms in the housing company: in the buildings A-D and E-F. The drying rooms are equipped with efficient air drying devices that dry the laundry quickly. Drying rooms may be used freely for drying clean laundry.
There is a booklet in the drying room where the booking of the drying room is marked (date, time of use, number of cords used and the number of your apartment).
Please be sure to collect your laundry on time so others can use the space.
In addition to the drying rooms, the laundry can also be dried in the drying rack next to the A-D building in the yard of the apartment complex.
Cold storage lockers and storage cellars
There are three cold storages in the housing company: in the buildings A-D, E-F and I-K. The temperature in these storage lockers is kept around +6 degrees of Celsius.
Each apartment has a locker in the cold storage. You’ll find your own locker in your house with the number of your apartment, except for the G-H house, which has cold storage in the E-F building.
Take care of the cleanliness of your locker and make sure that there is no food spoilage. Also, protect your food so that insects, mice or other small animals can’t reach it.
Flammable liquids, LPG or explosives such as fireworks may not be stored in the storage cellars. Loose goods may not be stored in the corridors of the basement.
Bike storage
Bike storages can be found in the buildings A-D, E-F and I-K. There is also a locked outdoor storage area at the end of the I-K building where bikes can be stored. In addition, there are some bike racks in the yard.

The power poles at the parking area may only be used for car block heaters or interior space heaters. Charging of electric and hybrid cars from the power poles is prohibited! Violation of this rule may result in a warning or the termination of the parking contract, leading to the loss of the parking space.
Available parking spaces can be requested from the property management company Kirkkonummen huolto.
Parking of vehicles is allowed only in the places reserved for them. You can only park in the yard area for a short time, for example to unload or load a vehicle. Rescue routes must be kept clear for emergency vehicles.

Apartment maintenance and alterations
A shareholder may carry out maintenance and alteration work on an apartment under his ownership such that it will not cause damage or harm to the company, neighbors or buildings. Typical such works include painting and wallpapering.
If the remodeling and repairs may affect the structure of the house or the neighboring apartments, the company (the board and the property manager) must be notified in advance. Work must not be commenced until the permission has been granted by the property manager.
When renovating, the living comfort of the neighbors and the cleanliness of the stairwells must be taken into account. Neighbors must be notified in advance of works that cause noise and disturbance. This kind of noisy work is strongly recommended to be done on weekdays before 8 p.m.
