With the snow melting, unpleasant piles of dog poop have been revealed in the housing company’s yard. To keep our yard clean and pleasant, we remind all dog owners to take care of their pets’ waste if the pet happens to do its business in the yard area.
Cleaning up dog poop is important to keep the yard areas clean and safe for everyone. Always use dog poop bags and make sure the waste ends up in the trash. Thank you for considering the cleanliness and comfort of our shared yard area!
The following waste bins can be found in the recycling shelter: mixed waste, plastic, bio-waste, glass, metal, paper and cardboard.
Let’s keep the garbage area clean together, so it’s more comfortable for everyone to use! Garbage should be sorted in the waste bins with the lid closed. No objects should be left outside the containers. This is important to avoid accidentally feeding rats or other unwanted animals. The waste management company also bills the housing company for the disposal of waste outside the bins.
Cardboard packagings should be flattened to minimize the amount of space they take in the trash bins.
Furniture and other bulky waste that cannot fit into the bin must be delivered to HSY’s Sortti stations. Electronics, refurbishments and hazardous waste should be taken to separate collection points and must not be left to the recycling shelter at all.
The housing company’s board has commissioned a yard plan for the housing company. The landscape architect will make a several year proposal on how to improve the yard area. The charming forested nature of the plot will be preserved, but the plan may include, for example, tidying up and enhancing the yard, small repairs, and suggestions related to plantings. The board will decide which proposals will be implemented and on what schedule.
The aim is to carry out some measures, especially tidying up and small enhancements, already this spring after the spring cleanup, so that we can enjoy a more comfortable yard this coming summer. In the future, the measures will be spread over several years, keeping the costs reasonable.
The traditional spring cleanup of the housing company will be held again on Saturday, April 26, 2025, starting at 12:00. Let’s get the yard area of the housing company ready for spring and take care of the plantings together! We will provide rakes, brooms, and other tools, as well as refreshments and drinks.

The annual general meeting of Housing Company Yläkelo will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 18:00 at the Soukka Service Center. The invitation and materials for the meeting will be sent to shareholders at least two weeks before the meeting. You can participate in the meeting either in person or remotely via Teams. Detailed instructions for participation will be provided in the meeting invitation.
The traditional Christmas sauna for the residents of the housing company will be heated in both saunas on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024, from 12:00 to 15:00.

During Christmas, families tend to produce more waste, such as paper and cardboard trash, so the waste bins in the housing company may fill up faster. By sorting the waste carefully, the capacity of the waste bins will last longer. Please also ensure that you flatten cardboard boxes and other bulky waste.
Waste bins must not be overfilled, and trash bags must not be left outside the bins, as this would provide a Christmas feast for the local rats. We hope that, if possible, you can store some waste for a while, for example, on your apartment’s balcony if the waste bins are full.
We also remind you that cooking fat from the Christmas ham must not be poured down the drain! Dispose of the cooking fat either solidified with organic waste or in a tightly sealed container with mixed waste.
HSL will transport Christmas trees away from the property free of charge in January-February. Leave the tree in a visible place at the end of the waste shelter after Epiphany, no later than January 8th. Make sure the tree does not get covered in snow or freeze to the ground.
Due to exceptional weather conditions, the housing company’s spring cleanup has to be postponed. The new date for the cleanup is Saturday 18 May 2024, starting at 12 p.m. Originally, the cleanup was planned for 27 April 2024.
There has been a significant amount of snow, and even if it melts before the cleanup, it’s better to let the ground properly dry before we start raking and doing other yard work.

The housing company has planned a facade renovation, which, however, is not yet scheduled for the near future. Nevertheless, the facades are dirty and unsightly. Therefore, the board is investigating the possibility of cleaning the facades.
The board is planning to arrange a maintenance and a thorough cleaning of the sauna facilities. This includes minor repairs, replacement of sauna stones, and thorough cleaning of the sauna and changing rooms. A precise schedule is not yet determined.
